Marcy Morris was born in Miami Florida, and raised in Wayne New Jersey

Her artistic abilities were encouraged throughout her childhood. She developed her talent through a variety of art & dance classes. Marcy attended Parson’s School of Design and Rhode Island School of Design summer programs in high school. In 1988 Marcy graduated Syracuse University with a Bachelor of Fine Art in interdisciplinary studies combining painting, dance, and fibers. In 1996 she received a Pennsylvania Art Teacher certification from Moore College of Art.

Marcy’s art career began selling hand painted clothing, paintings and decorative items along the New Jersey Shore. Living in Philadelphia from 1988-1999, Marcy worked in predominantly Black & Latino communities teaching art at public schools and art centers in Philadelphia & Chester where she learned the invaluable lesson of respecting and embracing people for their cultural differences.
These experiences influenced her teaching style artworks and art, writing and dance expressions. Her multicultural identities add vibrant layers to her inclusive mindset, heart of compassion. Marcy artworks reflect her love of music, dance, children & community. Presently Marcy’s paintings, clothing designs, poetry and interpretive movement have become the mix that reflects her mission of healing racial divisions through her artistry.
