Painted in 1999 | Acrylic on Canvas.
Created in honor of Jo-Jo Williams, an artist and beloved elder of the Village of Arts and Humanities in North Philly, located between Alder Street and Germantown Avenue. Jo-Jo was a storyteller and art assistant to muralist Lily Yeh at the Village of Arts and Humanities. He meticulously painted the mural composition before the mosaic pieces were placed by “Big Man”, James Maxon. I remember his many stories and words of wisdom shared like sparkling stars. Jo-Jo feels like an angel looking over me, and the whole village in Philly!
